Off to Europe

Post by tourist »

I'll be in London over the Christmas break and New Year (and a few days after that). I will be going to Germany for a few days in that period. Are there any gun manufacturers that I can visit, or are they not open to drop-in visitors?

PS I'm thinking of Steyr, since I have an LP10. It'd be nice to see it's birthplace! Other gun makers are fine too... Feinwerkbau?

Steyr is in Ernsthofen, between the towns of Steyr and Amstetten, its right on the far sude of Austria. They say they do not do visits, we contacted them by e-mail and they did give us a tour.
Walther is in Ulm, a security site, but they will take visitors by arrangement, again e mail to the customer services dept, a great site, with a fantastic museum.

You might find that, like very many companies in Europe, they are closed or on skeleton staffing between Christmas and New Year.

As for Steyr the latest email that I received from them is that they are closed from December 24 till January 9.
