New Shooter

Hi guys, just got into offhand shooting.
I really love shooting rimfires. I usually shoot my Ruger MkIII and my CZ452 LUX.
Today was the first time I took the NRA A-23/5 traget out to 50 yards and shot standing up off hand.

The rear ghost ring was bigger than the whole A-23 target sheet!
I manged ok I guess kept 9 out of 10 shots in the black.
It was quite a humbling experience.
Im here to learn and ask questions.

Step one: Call The Fort Benning Ga, USAMU And request a copy of the pistol marksmanship manual. Next, decide what kind of competition you would like to compete in. Its probably best to start out with Patridge type sights [rear sight has a perfectly square notch and uses a flat top front sight]and is required for ISSF competitions It is also legal for NRA Pistol matches. Dont start shooting until you have carefully studied the manual to avoid developing bad habits that are extremly hard to un learn, Now you should begin to decide what pistol you are going to train with. When you have the pistol buy small lots of ammo and test to find out what your pistol likes best. A safe range, and proper targets should get you on your way to becoming a future national champion.
