scatt zeroing

Post by melchloboo »

Isn't there a way to zero the scatt through the software, without me having to adjust the sights on my rifle? What I mean is, I want to take a few shots with the scatt and then tell the scatt to center based on that group, something like that. I seem to remember there was a way to do it but for the life of me I don't remember. I did find the "target center" option, but that doesn't center the trace. Something about moving the shots with the mouse?

Thanks.

I am assuming that you have calibrated the sensor and are approximately near the center of the target. If not, do that first.

There is not an option to center the group. However, there is a way to change the impact point. On the most recent shot on the target screen, left click and drag the shot to the call location or move it in the direction and amount that would center the previous few well aimed shots.

Moving the sights a bunch may cause you to develop a poor head position (different from when actually shooting real ammunition at real distances).

Make sure you are approximately zeroed for real and then shoot dryfire on the Scatt.

"left click and drag the shot to the call location or move it in the direction and amount that would center the previous few well aimed shots."

That's it, thanks! Does the system retain that setting in between sessions? I guess I'll find out.

"There is not an option to center the group."

Tools->Shot Parameters->Checkbox for 'adjust group to center of target' (or something like that, I'm not in front of it right now). What that seems to do is dynamically adjust the group as you go, it seems to only work in Match mode not Sighting mode, I think. Maybe I am misunderstanding that feature, but in any case, it doesn't do what I want, i.e. move the traces--it only moves the impacts.

The 'Adjust group to center of target' check box is only really useful for centering the shotgroup (total) to give you an idea of what the score might be if you had indeed ben centered with your sights.

You are right. It doesn't do what you want it to.

It does not keep the same correction from session to session as far as I can tell, but I always am changing shooters and thus rifles.

Thanks. I am continuously amazed at what the scatt system can do. (My favorite chart now is estimate score vs. hold time).
