FWB 300S Problems

Post by gmac »

Newbie to this Rifle-Picked up a FWB 300S in excellent condition for next to nothing. It is the Spring Piston type, with a side lever. While I was reviewing the book, the rifle got cocked, dry fired and re cocked. Now the side lever will not return to closed position (sticking out 90 degrees to rifle) It almost appears as though the lever was pulled to far and the inner sliding mechanism dropped lower than it should. We don't want to force it, it does not appear to have a safety. Anyone experience this or have any suggestions? Any and all may help.

As I recall the lever is pulled back beyond 90 degrees.
And do NOT dry fire the rifle.
Put a pellet in the rifle and shoot it into the dirt, since you cocked the spring.

Much the same happened to me a long time ago when I had a 300S. If memory serves, something got off the track, and (as I have no gunsmithing expertise) the rifle went to Beeman for fixing. I remember that awful feeling when the action thunked lower than it had been.

But it didn't happen after an accidental dry fire, so I don't know if that aggravated your problem. GaryN is right. Do not dry fire.

I was lucky: I bought the gun from Beeman, used, and it was still in warranty. And Dave Slade did the repair while I watched.

Try asking here as well - http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/FWB300airguns/

That's a FWB 300 owners forum.

Is the "sledge" all the way forward? The rifle won't cock unless it is.
