Cadets shine at JROTC National Air Rifle Championship - ANNIS­TON, ALABAMA - Several individual and team champions were crowned at the Eighth Annual JROTC National Air Rifle Champion­ship here on 25-27 March, but according to the event's founder, the biggest winner of all was the sport of JROTC marksmanship.

2010 CMP Competition Rules for Service Rifle, Service Pistol, As-Issued Military Rifle - The 2010 14th Edition of the CMP Competition Rules for Service Rifle, Service Pistol and As-Issued Military Rifle shooting has just been released. These new rules go into ef­fect immediately and will remain in effect until the 2011 15th edition of the CMP rules is released. The new rulebook can be downloaded from the CMP website at http://www.odcmp.com/Competitions/Rulebook.pdf. Printed copies of the new rules, which can be purchased from the CMP for $3.00 each, will be furnished to each match sponsor and National Matches competitor.

75 Shooters at National Match Air Rifle Season Opener in Rich­mond, Virginia - The CMP recently launched a series of National Match Air Rifle “Introductory Matches” to be held at se­lected ranges around the country. The pur­pose of these matches is to introduce shoot­ers in those areas to this exciting new shoot­ing sports discipline. The first of these matches, the NMAR Season Opener, was completed at the Lakeside Moose Family Center in Richmond, Virginia, on 27-28 Feb­ruary. 75 shooters from five states partici­pated in this endeavor to bring NMAR to the Mid-Atlantic region.

USAMU hosts junior championship - By Michael Molinaro, USAMU PAO - FORT BENNING, Ga. - The U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit continued its full-fledging support of America’s youth when it hosted the 2010 U.S. Army Junior Air Rifle Championships Mar. 21-23 at Fort Ben­ning’s Pool Indoor Range. This was the fourth year the U.S. Army spon­sored the event, fostering junior participation in prestigious state and na­tional rifle competitions, promoting firearms safety and connecting the youngsters with the expertise and professionalism of the USAMU. Ability rather than disability - By Michael Molinaro, USAMU PAO - FORT BENNING, Ga. - Some of today's wounded warriors have lost limbs, feeling in their arms or legs, or the use of both eyes but they haven't lost the feeling of inspiration, motivation or commitment to succeed while still serving their country. Wounded Soldiers from around the Army came to Fort Benning and the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Mar. 29-Apr. 1 to learn from the military's best shooters in preparation for the inaugural War­rior Games. Air Rifle and Pistol are among the athletic events wounded, ill and injured servicemembers from all branches will compete in at the inau­gural games May 10-14 at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps, High school students learn ethics, values in military training - By Paula Stuart, News Chief correspondent, HAINES CITY - The words "accountability," "unity" and "respect" sometimes aren't associated with "high school" and "kids," but a high school straddling Haines City and Dav­enport, some students are clearly standing out because of their decisions. The choice to join the Army Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps at Ridge Community High School has shown to be a good one for students enrolled in that program.
