World Cup in Milan to Kick off Monday

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 21, 2009) - The last leg of the 2009 ISSF World Cup series for Rifle and Pistol will be held in Milan, Italy, with competition kicking off on May 23 and going through May 28.



The U.S. Shooting team has already claimed seven medals on the World Cup circuit for Rifle and Pistol this year and is looking to add to their medal tally in Milan. Keith Sanderson (San Antonio, Texas) will be the only 2009 World Cup medalist shooting in Milan. Sanderson, a 2008 Olympian, has already won a gold, silver and bronze on the World Cup circuit this year and will be competing for his fourth medal in four World Cups in the Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Event.



Milan will be the final leg of the regular season World Cup competition for Rifle/Pistol, but the ISSF Rifle/Pistol World Cup Final will be held October 27 – November 1 in Beijing, China. The top shooters in the world are invited by the ISSF to attend the World Cup Final based on performances in the World Cup circuit throughout the year.
