Importing a pistol?

Post by keithwwalker »

I have read that Unique target pistols sold well in Austrailia and Sweden. I have also heard that Sweden is more lax for exporting than Oz.

Does anyone have any links on importing target pistols legally, through an FFL?

Thanks

You send Form 6 off to BATF. Not much to it.

Does a dealer do that for me, or do I do that personally?

I was looking at the practicalities of importing a pistol from Denmark to New Zealand. No problems with national regulations, but the problem was finding a carrier prepared to (knowingly!) transport a pistol.

Please let us all know if you find a co-operative carrier!

I have imported pistols to NZ using:

Postal Service

Korean Airlines

Emirates Cargo (Menzies are the local agent)

Either one. The Form 6 gets the pistol into the USA and sent to your FFL. The FFL makes the transfer IAW the applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Exporting from Australia is not that hard. A few years ago, I sold a rare H&K P9S to a collector in the US and Potter Firearms ( www.potfire.com.au) took care of the export details efficiently and at a very moderate cost.

Since Potter Firearms is linked to pilkguns ( site sponsor ), maybe pilkguns can do all the US import stuff for you?

Thanks for the leads. The dollar is strong now, so that an import 'may' work...
