Margolin MC-2 free-pistol

Hello,

I currently own a Margolin MC-2 from about the 1950's (I'm guessing). It has a broken spring in the seer-set mechanism, and it won't set the trigger to fire.

Does anyone here know if I can get this pistol back up and working? Or am I just dreaming, and need to look at another pistol purchase?

Many thanks for any help....

Hi,
An off the shelf replacement part is probably not in the cards. But making springs from scratch is something any real gunsmith should be able to do. (Probably not your local stick-a-scope-on-deer-rifle guy). Someone who is familiar with set trigger mechanisms is preferable. There are lots of riflesmiths (especially Schuetzen specialists) who can do this. Free pistol is very similar to the Schuetzen rifle game, and there are today lots of guys still competing with 80-100+ year old rifles, all with elaborate set triggers. And "factory parts" were never an option as the set triggers were all handmade. However, you would do well to contact Don Nygord (try nygord-precision.com) Larry Carter (larrysguns.com) or Warren Potter (via pilkguns.com). All three of these guys are familiar with older free pistols like the Hammerli 100 series, TOZ, etc. Best wishes and do keep us posted of your progress.
