Hello,
I am about to purchase my first air pistol, and I could use some advice. Is the Steyr LP50 a good choice? Is it reliable in timed and rapid firing, etc.?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Paolo,
I purchased my LP50 from Pilkington two years ago and probably have fired 10,000 rounds through it in both single and rapid fire events. I have not had a single malfunction.
I put it on a bench vise when I first received it and again last month to check grouping. Still shoots a one hole group with only the slightest clover leafing.
The trigger adjustments are easy to make, sights are adjustable in just about every imaginable way and the gun is extremely well built.
Balance is in the hands of the beholder but it sure feels right for me.
The only issue with my LP50 is that scorers complain that the pellets do not cut ordinary target paper very cleanly. If I use the Canadian Cibles or the Edelman targets - the pellets produce very nice crisp holes. I suspect that I can probably eliminate this problem by cranking up the velocity but I do not want to mess with a gun that functions so well. I'd rather spend an extra buck for the pricier targets.
Good luck with your choice - I think the LP50 is very a fine investment.
