HP Service Rifle in 2004

Post by Norm »

So that's what I'm up to next (now this) year. I've decided to shoot my AR in as many CMP EIC matches as I can. My goal is o make Distinguished Rifleman in 2 years. I have a decent shooting coat and I'm looking for the other "needs" A decent glove, scope stand, etc and maybe a cart to haul all the stuff around. Anyone have a colset full of HP etc that they want to get rid of?
Pistol shooters sure cary a lot less baggage to the range.
Thanks,

Make that "closet". Hopefully, I'll pull the trigger better than I can type.

get on the forums that are service rifle specific, like nationalmatch.us and florida high power.

http://www.floridashooting.com/
there is probably a similar website for your state, where are you? oh yeah, NJ u said that, they have a strong team going to Perry every year.

looks like it and http://www.njhighpowerrifle.com/ too
There was an article in Precision shooting a few years about going distinguished, one of the suggestions was notto goto every EIC match you can find, but pick the ones you will do well in, lots of participants (more legs awarded), familiar range, etc.
We all use Kowa TSN821M's you need a big strong stand for it. get a mat with "european" rubber matting, a glove too. Get a stool and put wheels on it.
learn to read the wind
good shooting

1) Aren't you limited to only a certain number of EIC matches per year (4), or is that strictly a military thing?
2) What you need
- Good EIC-Legal Service Rifle & magazines
- Great 600 yrd ammo; decent short line ammo
- Sling
- Glove
- Scope (can't beat the Kowa) & stand
- Dope book with all windage & elevation data
- Rigid jacket
- mat
That's really about it- note that you can roll your mat and jacket up and slide them on your scope stand; put your glove, ammo, mags etc in a small bag/shooting stool. Then just sling arms the rifle, toss scope stand over your shoulder, pick up your bag/stool and press.

you are limited to 3 or 4 leg matches per year, 3 can be anywhere the 4th can be Camp Perry.
