You can use whatever support style you want, except the palm rest.

The palm is preferrable nowadays because it eliminates the tension in the wrist joint. However, it is also the lowest (at the target). If you cannot get your rifle to adjust far enough or you are built in such a way that you cannot get the rifle onto target (1.4m) then you will need to do the fist or some other variation.
