Hi,
I just realized I've damaged the threads on my pressure reducing valve, the part the cylinder threads on to. I have two questions maybe someone can help me answer.

Did this result from negligence on my part? I'm careful not to cross-thread when I screw the cylinder in. When I finish shooting, I unscrew the cylinder. (Our host, Scott Pilkington recommends this). I grease the o ring but only lightly. Should I have used more grease. I've shot the gun roughly 200 times.

Do you know where I can purchase a replacement?

If you unscrew the cylinder only partly and leave it on the gun it will wobble and may lead to damage of the threads. Steyr's team of armurers at a competition recommended to have it fully on or fully off.

Your cylinder threads may have also been damaged.

I don't know what size these threads are, nor how badly they are damaged. However, would it be possible to chase the threads with an appropriately sized die?

No, because then the valve threads would be smaller than the cylinder threads.
I can't understand how I damaged the threads on my LP50 but not my Evo10e which I shoot more often. The only difference is that I'm using generic cylinders on the LP50 from 10punkt9 in Germany but genuine Steyr cylinders on the Evo. The valve threads on the LP50 are completely flattened.

Except the threads on the two cylnders look the same and I can screw the 10punkt9 cylinder on to my Evo10e (which has intact valve threads) and it fits perfectly. Also, 10punkt9 sells a lot of Steyr cylinders and I haven't read bad reviews. I'll just have to be really careful once I replace the valve. If it happens again, only then will I know there's a cylinder thread mistmatch problem.

After replacing the valve, lubricate the threads using this.
