Steyr Air Pistol Case

Hi All,
I am after some help please. I have an old Steyr air pistol case that has seen better days. Can anyone recommend an adhesive they have used to sucessfully re-attach the foam cut out to the green fabric backing. The original stuff seems to be some sort of clear hot melt glue that remains flexible and tacky at normal temperatures, nothing I have tried seems to last very long.
Thanks

I've got several cases where the foam keeps shifting internally, so I feel your pain. The cases are all made by Negrini, and I suspect they install the foam.

I don't have time to do much digging at the moment, but 3M used to sell adhesive for upholstery work in big tubes. It's solvent based, and shouldn't ooze the way the Steyr stuff does. I did a real quick search, and came up empty. I may have a fossilized tube somewhere. It's possible it was discontinued due to the nasty solvents.

Update: I dug around in my shop, but there's no sign of the 3M adhesive I used in the distant past. I looked at their current offerings, and this stuff looks promising: https://www.amazon.com/3M-Neoprene-Perf ... IV9NQ?th=1

Basically, you want a contact cement/adhesive. I've used this glue recently on some leather, and it worked great: https://www.amazon.com/Barge-All-Purpos ... B00B5XDPLC. It is also neoprene-based, it should be available in most craft stores, and it's a LOT cheaper than the 3M stuff.

Unless you get electronics grade RTV (= expensive), the standard hardware store stuff releases acetic acid fumes when it cures. I would make extra sure you let the case air out for quite a while before putting anything you don't want to corrode in it. I'd wait until I can no longer detect any trace of a vinegar smell, and then double that time.

argus, send me a pm. We have one that has been sitting empty for years...It is in excellent shape. (It took me some time to find it, as it was stuffed way to the back of our range closet.) It's yours if want to pay for shipping. There should be no import tax on a gift.
