I have some very old stock of airgun pellets from H&N mainly FInale Match for pistol. Over the years the foam under the lid deteriorated and the pellets are covered in powdered foam. I washed a tin of pellets in liquid soap and dried them but now they look 'dry' Is it fine to shoot them as they are or do they need to be lubed with something.

I cannot throw out the entire lot since importing pellets is a hassle.

Pretty sure the "dry" look is just oxidation. I'm sure they're fine, but may lose a tiny bit of accuracy. Unless you're trying to score 570, I'd say go for it.

I shoot with a young lady who was part of the. 1980 Olympic team (They didn’t go to Russia).
She has a cache of very old .177 pellets from when she was on the team.
She shoots with her team issued FWB300 Universal and those pellets.
Both at 10m and short range silhouette..
Gentlemen, you do not want to shoot against her.
Trust me.
Those pellets are shooting just fine.

If you do want to lube your washed and dried pellets, I can recommend (from personal experience) Napier Power Pellet Lube.

Don't use much! Spray or dribble some of the stuff on a foam pad and gently roll the pellets around on it (in batches).

A light spray and shake around with Mr Sheen Furniture Polish will also do the trick.
Its a liquid wax, great as a bullet case lube for reloading or dry old .22's.
Should be OK for pellets, just use a very small amount.
