Feeble Poots

I'm kind of a nosy guy. I read posts on here that interest me, but that I have no intention of following through on.

Anyway: RWS Hyper (lead free) pellets and low velocity APs is today's topic, kiddos.

It appears that the FAS 6004 is a good starter gun, and the Daisy 717, too (even if they need a little work). Unfortunately, the power on these
is not conducive to best performance and clean shot holes. Would the above-mentioned pellets improve things?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Hey rover, my 777 punches perfect round holes aa do the 747 and 717..... Its about good targets oe good target backers. Non lead pellets don't seem to shoot well in my ssp pistols.....

I did a bit of velocity testing with my AP20.

RWS Mirsterkugeln 7.0gr 515fps average
H&N Match Green 5.25gr 585fps average

So there was a gain of 70fps with the lighter pellets out of my pistol. Maybe this info will convince someone to give it a try.

Interesting to note that they are recommended for PCP rifles only?

The Tin alloy sounds interesting as a Bullet Caster...

Can’t remember what the physics formula to use, if known initial velocity and final distance are known, what is the final velocity at that final distance.

If 510 FPS initial speed will cut clean holes at 10m, what is THAT final velocity 10m away?

If 717 is not cutting clean hole, just move the distance closer, use smaller target. At some closer distance, the final velocity will cut paper clean. Though pellet holes would be larger relative to target, at least holes will be clean.

Just don’t know what physics formula to calculate that final velocity and distance.

I've used a free program called Chairgun Pro that calculates pellet ballistics:

I think it used to be a commercial product, but they don't support it anymore and make it available for free.

Just don’t know what physics formula to calculate that final velocity and distance.
You would need a bit more information than just initial velocity (u) and distance (s): time of flight (t) and acceleration (deceleration) (f) would also be required to determine final velocity (v).

v = u +f*t; v^2 = u^2 + 2*f*s; s = u*t + 1/2f*t^2, if my schoolboy memories are accurate.
