Help needed on rear sight adjustment

Hi, I have a Feinwerkbau M80 pistol and it is shooting high (10m) following a full service. I turned the rear adjuster to the right (H) and it has come to a halt (obviously at the end of the adjustment range), however, it is still shooting an inch high...anyone any ideas...many thanks.

Are you using a sub-six hold?

Sub-six means you align the sights below the black.
This note is interesting, in the Model 80 manual...

The recoil lock and centrefire weight selector are on the M65 only.
Not fitted to the M80.

Just an idea, if the shots are going high...
Check that the Foresight blade insert is fitted.

Thanks, I will check the foresight, but, it all seemed normal to me!

What is a sub-six hold? Scroll down to Gwhite's third entry for a picture. THIS is what you should be using.

Is the sliding mechanism smooth and locks back normally when tilt downwards or cocking the pistol? Has the pistol been broken-in with the new seals/spring(s), does the pistol group, or the shots that are shooting high scattered?

It all slides back and locks fine, but, it has just had a new spring and seals, so that may be a cause, but, surely it should not affect the sights so severely ?

Are you now able to zero correctly while using the proper sub-six hold?

Did the pistol have this problem before you had the full service done?
Is the front sight blade insert standard or the tall version?

Since we're talking about front sights: I recently picked up a 120 year old Mauser 88 cavalry carbine cheap at a garage sale. It was such a light, handy little thing, I thought I'd take it hunting in the mountainous, heavily wooded area I live in.
I took it to the range to check the zero with the ammo that came with it and found it was shooting about a foot high at fifty yards. Then I started with various hand loads (another story), but no luck. Then I thought I'd mess with the sights, as I have with so many of my other guns. About this time, I though I'd check its value on line: $900. No way I'm hacking on a collector's item.
Well then, I'll just make something to raise the front sight without doing something that could not be reversed. I started rooting around for my brass shim stock and realized it would be a real PIA to make something so small and precise. So I looked for something else. I came across a package of tie-wraps. Hmmm.
I snipped the tip off one. It was about the same size and shape as the inverted "V" front sight. A liberal douche (no, not a Democrat) of Super Glue and I was in business.
Back to the range with some assorted handloads: one inch high and laterally right on. What bliss!

It was fine before the new spring and service, cause and effect probably!

The break-in period with new seals and spring(s) should be around 50-100 shots, if it continues to shoot high, you can use a tall front blade insert to lower the muzzle.
As long as the pistol groups well, learn how to shoot with the sub-six hold.

Thanks for that help, I have now taken the pistol back to the gunshop and had the rear sight re-set and it now has full adjustment. I a, also using the lower sighting method which works well. Many thanks for all the advice, much appreciated. Chris
