Hi friends.

I recently took possession of a meyton demo unit and shot a video for my channel of me setting it up (and first shots / thoughts). I figured you might be interested. More to come, please subscribe if this is the kind of thing you like.

Enjoy!

I enjoyed the video, but the Meyton system is a little too pricy for this guy......

There are several systems on the market now for ~ $1K USD. Athena is one:

I believe it requires the Orion software, which may require an annual license, but possibly not for home use.

Elite is another (from India):

And there's Inband from Finland:

The final price depends on whether you need a pellet trap as well. One thing I don't like about a lot of them is the need for two expendables; the target "masks", and a moving backer strip. If the vendor goes belly up, it's not clear how long you will be able to get supplies. In theory, you could probably make your own masks, but the moving backer could be a lot harder.

I've used the SIUS system, and although it is very expensive compared to these, you can use it without a moving backer.

at the $1K level, I might consider getting one for home, but I'd need to do a lot more research on the quality and expected longevity of the targets & companies.

Do I detect the impending demise of the Eagle-Eye (or is it Evil-Eye?), scoring plugs, guessing where the missing shot is, and ALL the other joys of doing it the good old fashioned way?

I also have an Inband in my basement so feel free to ask questions.

The Meyton is a less expensive than the other high end certified systems. The UI on all the systems so far leaves much to be desired. But I think the mobile stuff looks promising. We’ll see.

I might be wrong but elite is no longer made and I’m not sure if athena has released their home unit yet. Not sure about the others. There are no black strips on the Meyton so the consumables are limited. They’ve been in business for a while.

Yes it’s gtg for air rifle and rapid 10m. I’m still learning it his so far I’m a fan.

The Meyton certainly looks like great kit!

Additional information- since 2013 when we purchased our first SIUS HS10 to 2021, when we purchased the most recent one, the cost for the SIUS HS-10 had dropped about $700. Current, on-sale price is roughly $1800. It uses cables (reliable) and has software for a Windows of MAC computer to display, and print, the results.

That first SIUS HS-10 we purchased would throw the occasional error in shot placement/alibi. (It was hardware version 1.3) The most recent SIUS HS-10, hardware version 4.7, has yet to throw an error in shot placement/alibi after many, many thousands (very close to 10,000) shots.

When we have shot on Megalink (4K187), and Kongsberg (whatever version they have at the CMP) we found they each tend to record errors of about 1 in 1000 shots. Certainly good enough for home use, but frustrating when it happens.

What is the error/alibi rate for the Megalink?

(It would also be interesting to know for the error/alibi rate for the Inband, if somone has that information.)

Best regards,

TPG enjoyed this review as well as your other videos (even though on PR of Yootoob). Your AP videos are a good learning resource IMO.
