Caldwell chronograph not picking up

Bought a new Caldwell chronograph to replace my rusted Combro Mk4.
Very dissapointed. Not picking up squat. Set it up, shot through middle of diffuser shade set up 10 feet away. Nothing. Took diffuser shade off. Nothing. Shot it through one foot away, nothing.
Is 0.177 too small for this chronograph?
Better options out there?
Combro is constantly out of order.

That's odd. My Combro has always worked flawlessly. I'm careful to make sure it's lined up properly, and I've never had an issue. I help coach a team, and I've used it on over 30 different air pistols at one point or another. I can use it without having to set anything up down range, and it is easy to store. The factory mount is mostly designed to work on rifles, and I've 3D printed several different custom mounts to work with a variety of competition air pistols.
I would send it back for service, or just buy a new one, although I notice they are out of stock on their web site. It's at least worth sending them an email to see if they know what's up.

With .177 mine worked best if the projectile passes just 1-2 inches above the sensors.

Don’t really like this Caldwell chronograph. It has to be under direct sun light to work. It won’t pick up under patio shade at all.
My Combro never had that problem. Too bad Robin is completely out of order, for who knows how long.
Any cheaper options besides FX Doppler chrono?

For air guns, this is very nice:

Their MK3 version works very well, even indoor.
Hope this helps
