What is a Zimmerstutzen and what did it fire? What is the funny contraption on the bottom of the barrel? Is there a web site that has info on them? Please email me directly.

A Zimmerstutzen ia a target rifle from the early 1900's that uses a 4.0 to 5.45 mm ball. Some use a seperate ball and small cartridge to propel it and some use a one piece cartridge. It has less power than a .22 short. The equipment under the barrel is to chamber the ball and cartridge. The fireing rod or pin extends to the receiver. It may have an outside hammer or not. The actual barrel is only about 8 inches long. They are very accurate. The price can range from a couple hundred to a couple thousand depending on condition and amount of engraving and how fancy it is. I just bought one and recommend purchasing Airgun Review Number 2. FSI at www.AirgunsUSA.com presently carries them. You best buy one when you can as this publication is out of print. It is the most extensive information on the gun in one book. These guns were custom produced for one individual person and were not mass produced. Please contact me formore information. summers358@adelphia.com
