If you look at our monthly AP match scores you'll see that Rover shot a 551 with a SAM M10. I'd say it would serve as a backup, or a number 1!

I had one years ago, and I thought it the best AP I've ever owned. Just be aware it is a complete orphan. Anything more sophisticated than an off the shelf o-ring fails and it's a nice piece of decorative art.

Not to crack wise - what a willing buyer is prepared to pay a willing seller. The market for them is very thin, so every case has to stand on its own. I think you're in the right range. IF IT'S ALL IN ORDER.

I don't know what the cylinder availability for the pistol is, but if any of the juniors who train with it want to go to the Junior Olympics, they need a current cylinders, i.e. less than 10 years old.

The cylinder issue is understood. Our 4H group is seveerly under funded and NRA ZEROED our request for air pistols in the grant we got in February. I just need to find some ap's under 500 for the kids to get a taste.

Depending upon their age & size, the FAS 6004 can be tuned up to be a very decent entry level pistol. Instructions for fixing them up are here:

Prices run ~ $400 for the ambidextrous grip if you shop around.

The SAM is really snazzy, maybe the best, but you're screwed if you need a repair. I sent mine to Switzerland for repair and got it back fixed at no charge, but was told that they are no longer in business. They even re-dated the cylinders, good to 2028. You could write a letter to them.

That said, check out Quackenbush airguns. I think he has one buried in his stuff, and it's for sale.

The pistol, not I, was pretty sweet. But I thought at least $100 overpriced for an orphan.

BTW, Rog, you should look up how the flower called "Sweet William" by the English came to be called "Stinking Billy" by the Scots.

I had one and loved it. If I remember correctly my two cylinders had no date on them. Unsure how that would fit legally.
I would be surprised if anything would break and I would jump at the chance to buy another.

Took cylinder apart, at least re moved end cap. I don't have tool to remove valve from end cap.
