As National Assistant Shotgun Coach, Waldron (right) has helped grow the USA Shooting Shotgun Team into an international powerhouse that has garnered two Olympic medals, two Mixed Team and four individual World Championship medals, as well as 34 World Cup medals since 2015. He assumes the National Shotgun Coach role following the recent resignation of Todd Graves.

“Jay brings an energy and drive that our team feeds off,” said USA Shooting CEO Keith Enlow. “The leadership he brings to this position will only help our shotgun program grow even more.”

Waldron, 52, was officially hired by USA Shooting in 2015 as Assistant National Shotgun Coach and Resident Program Manager. Two years prior to that, he had been working in a part-time, voluntary role as the USA Shooting Team Assistant National Team coach where he helped guide a program that earned 13 World Cup and 11 World Championship medals in 2014 alone.

Prior to his time in Colorado with USA Shooting, Waldron coached at clubs throughout the state of Oregon. He also competed in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain in Trap where he earned a spot in the Finals after shooting a 195/200. Waldron was a two-time Junior World Clay Target Champion, earning those titles in back-to-back events in 1983 and 1985 respectively. Also, in 1985, he won the Junior title at the Championship of the Americas. Throughout 1991 and 1992, he was a contender in almost every match he competed, including winning gold and silver in two 1992 World Cups, and making Finals in three others. In 1991, Waldron finished fifth in Trap and seventh in Double Trap at the World Championship in Perth, Australia, while also winning gold at the Pan American Games the same year in Havana, Cuba.
