Can someone Pls. explain to me the use of weights on the air pistol barrel ?

Theory and practical applications.

Are they primarily used to reduce movement after firing ?

Are they necessary ?

They are used to make the weight and balance of the gun suit the way you like it.

That's great - just what I was looking for.

I'll experiment with them.

Thank-you

Don't experiment with them until you have a solid idea of what you're looking to accomplish. Years ago a great friend of this forum, Mako K, posted a superb series of pellet tests. And then none. His explanation - I'm not quoting directly - was that he could accomplish much more practicing (now we'd include training) and shooting than farting around testing pellets. Probably more enjoyable, too.

I suspect that a half hour of serious dryfire will benefit more than several afternoons of messing with barrel weights. On the other hand, if what you really want is to "buy points," weights are a whole lot cheaper than a new pistol!

PS: Except for no talk of electric triggers, that reminded me of something Steve Swartz would post.

Thank-you for the honest reminder that the gains from basic practice, certainly at my level, will exceed the returns from experimentation.
