I just sanded the high spots on my Morini grips. It feels much better now.
My question is, "What is the best way to redo the stippling that was sanded off?"
Any good You Tubes to watch?

Sorry I originally put this in the classified section

I did it on my Steyr grip using a large screw and a hammer. First I hit the sharp tip of the screw with the hammer to flatten it a bit, and then just use the screw gently tapping with the hammer. I put the grip on my legs instead of a hard surface. It worked out really well. This picture shows the progress https://photos.app.goo.gl/ouFbJUAD9jkHPp643

Use an old centre punch with a slightly blunt end to stipple the grip.
Tapping the surface with the punch end multiple times to replicate surface.
Coat surface with a 50/50 mixture of Linseed oil and Turps, rub in well.
Let dry and recoat.
Finally rubbing grip with soft cloth.

I wanted to give a thanks to Igor's Blog at http://toz35.blogspot.com/search/label/aw93 for all the articles on modifying target pistol grips.

I have found the best way to apply stippling is with an engraving pen - like this one.

You end up with a finish that is indistinguishable from factory stippling.

Question for you David - Why use a 50/50 mixture of Linseed oil and Turps ?. Why not just use 100% Linseed oil ?

The turps help it soak in better and dry off quicker to a finer finish.
Also very good to redo old grips once a year.

I have had good luck with a sharpened nail held in some vicegrips - go easy. It takes ages: a process best enjoyed with a movie.

Forget your nails and screws...I just went to Bunnings and bought the Ozito engraver suggested by Leon for $25.

I restippled 2/3 of a grip that had that much stippling removed and it took 20 minutes with no evidence of where I had started or finished. Then a light coat of Danish oil and no one’s the wiser.
