correlation between 50yd outdoor and 50ft indoor 3-P

id like to think that there's some sort of "cross over" or correlation between scores from shooting outdoors at 50 yards and shooting indoors at 50 feet...
i understand the bullseye rings being different sizes etc but doesnt the fact that one target is 3X the distance of the other and that, that target is being shot outdoors with wind, humidity, varying light conditions etc, have some bearing on scores shot?
i ask because my daughter shot a 590-26X over the weekend in an outdoor 3-P match and i was quite pleased with this result. i asked if this would translate into a good score at 50 feet and she said no. because of the difference in bullseye size. that was the only "reason" she could come up with although she told me the fact she only had three clean bulls and one 47-? bull in offhand was because she didnt catch the wind change until after her 2nd shot (on that bull)...
id like to think that the 590 would translate to at least a 550 or better reduced...

It depends.
If your daughter was shooting a conventional (A-23) 50yd target then there really isn't any correlation between the 2 distances.
A better gauge would be to shoot the metric (A51) 50 yd target or the (A50) 50 meter target. That will give you a much closer comparison. The sight picture should be close to the same. However outdoors there are still other factors (wind, light, mirage).

they were using the A-23 for the 3-P but then shot a conventional prone with the metric component in there...

If she shot a 590 outdoor on the A51(50yd) or the A50(50meter) then yes the score correlates pretty well. My guess if you pulled her indoors and shot the USA-50(50foot).
She would ... my guess would be in the mid570s to mid580s
The USA-50 target is designed to be pretty close
---just saw your last post---
However, the A23(50yd) would be equated with the A17(50ft) conventional target. A much easier target.
It is hard to equate the two (conv & intl) from just studying target scores as the tens on the conventional targets hide the small errors that easily turn into 9s.
I'm only gabbing from my experience here. My pretty good shooters that can clean the A-23s are scoring in the high 188 -to- 192/4 range on international targets.
But I'd say you are probably correct that the 590 would probably translate above 550 on a USA-50. Especially if she had wind on the A23. A lot of that is going to depend especially on her standing. Only one way to tell though ..... :-)

197-9x prone
196-7x standing
197-3x kneeling
the standing had 3 clean bulls and one with a pair of 8s...
ive got an A-51 bullseye that i'm going to see about converting to a transparency overlay so i can see (just out of curiosity) for myself...
thanks!

I shoot a lot of A-51s in training, and a lot of A-23s in competition. Typically your A-23 Xs are A-51 10s, 10s are 9s, 9s are 8/7, etc.
That's, of course, a rough estimate, but it should give you an idea of what to expect.

Cut one of each in half and slide them together ... I do that for my kiddos

i got the dimensions from the rule book and drew out the appropriate sized circles with my trusty compass..
it looks without plugging, she shot a 545 equivalency...
thanks everyone!

I agree with mtncwru:

... or USA-50's indoor.
Then when she approaches a match with the conventional targets the thought in her mind will be ... "Oh, gosh! Look at how big that 10 ring is!"

My scores between USA 50 and the metric 50m target correlate almost exactly.
