Welcome to Week One of this Year’s Vermont Winter Postal League / National Rifle League. This season the league has grown to 38 teams, with over 260 entrants, from across the country.
Our overall Team Leader this week was Northern California, one of our new teams, with a 1588 (I believe this is a new league record). They were led by Nadine Ahola, who fired a 397 in 4-P. Second place goes to the Plattsburgh Rough Riders, 1579 led by Paul Deslierres & Peter Visconti 396 prone. Third place goes to Albion PA, 1577, led by, Larry Pavolko 397, 4-P and Fourth Place goes to Whitehall NY, 1575.
We had a very close race this week between our fifth through Eighth place teams, Roslyn fired a 1559, followed by New Holland 1558, Barrington 1557 and then finally Jamestown 1556. Their were several other very close scores between teams indicating this is going to be a close race up and down the results.
This week’s Top shooters are Wesley Shumaker from Nashville with a 398 in prone, Andre Gross, Rochester, Abigale Wensell, Cary and Martina Gratz, Shelby 393, in standing, and Jason Pratt, Whitehall & Clayton Hanson, Jamestown who both fired a 399 in 4 position.
Our Top Junior Shooters are Clayton Hanson with a 399 for 4-P, Kyle Kutz, of Bridgeport with a 388 prone; Andre Gross and Abigale Wensell with a 393 in standing.
This year the league has six divisions, North, East, Saratoga, in The Eastern Conference and South, West and Central in the Western Conference. Each week we will put together an all star team from each division for a division vs. division challenge. We will also do this with the juniors. At the end of the season we will have a first and second team All-Division Team posted for each Division. The nice part of this league is we have shooters from all skill levels and ages, our oldest Top Shot is 93 and youngest Top Shot is just 13. Like the last few seasons we will also continue with our Top Shots for each discipline, however this year we will have a Eastern and Western Conference list.
We are once again using our web site for reporting scores. You can go directly to http://www.Natinional.RifleLeague.com and see all of the individual and team results. Please make every effort to have your team scores sent in on time, as soon as they are fired, by Saturday night at midnight at the latest. I plan to send out next week’s results Monday morning. Due to some glitches in the web site (this may be fixed by the time you read this) the team results were not correct as I was typing my report, so I typed them by hand to include in this report. Individual results can be found on line.
I mentioned in a previous e-mail that the web site can now break down the individual results in various ways such as by division, it also includes senior and junior shooters, however this is based on a date of birth, team mangers or individuals need to input these dates of birth for this is be searched in this method.
The league is also on facebook where you can find updates, so look us up, share your team photos, and “like” us. Please share this e-mail with your teammates and fellow shooters.
