I have a retired friend who is in the process if thinning his gun collection. He has a couple of pistols a hammerli 150 and a morini cm2 steel frame that I am interested in. Is the a consensus on value of these pistols.

Our hands are extremely close in size and his grips will require little more than some filler behind the palm swell area. The Hammerli had a modified Rink grip and the CM 2 a Morini Grip. I like the Morini grips already and shoot them on my lp10.

This man has been an excellent friend and mentor to me and I want to offer a fair price if I buy these pistols. Any advice would be appreciated. We don't have much opportunity to shoot free and standard pistol in my area, and my current focus is on bullseye. But the CM2 would make an excellent choice for 22 distinguished and the Hammerli is one of the nicest guns I have handled.

Thanks

I have only ogled one from afar. I don't think they are as good as a TOZ in terms of capability in design.
So no more than $800USD is my gut feeling.

The way I have seen Americans go bananas over Hammerlis: you might want to quadruple that figure... :D

There's someone on Gunbroker with a 150 for $1500:

http://www.gunbroker.com/item/589117945

The pistol is nice, with the wooden grip & forend, case, etc. Still, I doubt they will get any takers for that price.

There are two 152's listed, one for $875, and one for $1095. Both also have the wood trim, case & accessories.

Of course, these are auction starting prices, but if there are no buyers, then they get to try again at a lower price.

The 2014 BlueBook has the 150 at $1850 in unfired mint condition. Fired, but still mint condition, drops it to $1495. "80%" condition drops just below $1000. That would mean all parts & finish are original, but there are some significant signs of use & wear. I wouldn't expect too many free pistols to be much worse than 80% unless they were abused.

If I were in the market, I wouldn't pay much more than $1000 for a used 150.

Always tough to figure out a fair deal friend-to-friend.

On the 150, I'd go $800-1000 (and that's probably a little higher than market). At $800, you're giving your buddy fair market value, and still not having to deal with the hassle of Gunbroker/gun show/gun shop "how do I know that this gun is what the seller says it is?" BS. At $1,000, you have all of that plus you're throwing your buddy an extra $200.

Between $800 and $1,000, it's dependent on your relative economic situations, honestly. I'd rather overpay for a gun when I know that money is going to a friend who needs the cash, versus buying the same gun a little bit cheaper on Gunbroker.
