Evo replacing LP10 in US?
Hi folks,
Just wanted to give those of you in the U.S. a headsup. Champion's Choice is currently out of all Steyr LP10 models. Considering they had four of them listed as "in stock" just two nights ago, this was a bit of a surprise to me. When I noticed that this morning (yeah, I'm a nerd who checks prices. So sue me!), I contacted the company and spoke with a very friendly staff person. She said that they were in talks with the importers and they were unsure whether they would continue to stock the LP10 or switch to the LP10 evo only going forward. It will likely be several weeks before they know for sure.

Re: Evo replacing LP10 in US?
I'm sure Steyr posted at the time of the evo release that the LP0 had been discontinued. It may be difficult finding an LP10 considering they are not being produced.
Re: Evo replacing LP10 in US?
I own an EVO-10. When I decided to buy, I wanted an LP-10 but then found out on the Steyr web site that it is DISCONTINUED (not just as you imply in the US, but worldwide by Steyr) and the replacement is the EVO-10.
If you're considering buying a NEW gun, then there are still some dealers with LP-10's in stock, but they don't seem to be making any clearance sale prices of them. For just about the same price you can get the latest and greatest, EVO-10. But this also means that many owners of LP-10's might be upgrading to the EVO and there very likely will be some deals to be had on used guns.

Any USA dealers stocking the Evo 10E yet?

Why not ask the U.S. distributor....Pilk.
Re: Evo replacing LP10 in US?
I can call. Nothing on their website about the Evo at all.
Re: Evo replacing LP10 in US?
Just talked to Pilkguns. Evo 10Es three to four weeks out.
Re: Evo replacing LP10 in US?
Gents, thanks for turning me on to Krale-Schietsport. I'm "pulling the trigger" (pun intended) on a new Morini MGH1 Light tomorrow. My first match pistol. Have upstairs, indoor 10 meter range with proper height and lighting ready to go. I assume they will have no difficulty shipping to Houston. Lets see what I can do at 62, LOL.

Good for you! Congrats!Bigship wrote:Gents, thanks for turning me on to Krale-Schietsport. I'm "pulling the trigger" (pun intended) on a new Morini MGH1 Light tomorrow. My first match pistol. I've now bought two guns (including my Steyr EVO-10) from Krale and am just finalizing an order for a third (rifle). They've been great to deal with.
And from my POV, you're just a kid! So don't worry about being ONLY 62!!!

Re: Evo replacing LP10 in US?
Thanks for the responses about Krale. I'm getting tired of the runaround by American "importers," and I've found that their site is much more user-friendly and responsive.
Just FYI, to the best of my knowledge, you don't need a "specialist importer" for airguns. It's not a gun according to the Gun Control Act. I don't understand why companies here insist on that. Of course, your state laws may vary, but only for things within that state.

Re: Evo replacing LP10 in US?
10 meter precision air gun shooting isn't nearly as popular in the U.S. as Europe, so importers here aren't going to put their money into a lot of stock that might sit for many months. I've found Pilkguns very fair, friendly and competent over the years. I also like to support companies who support the shooting community through websites like TargetTalk. If one is impatient, then I suppose buying overseas may be the way to go, but I'll continue to support U.S. companies who support the sport.Chia wrote:Thanks for the responses about Krale. I also ordered an Evo 10 E from Pilkguns, when they receive them. I bought my Steyr LP50 from them this summer at Perry and I appreciated their advice and their willingness to answer my newbie questions.

My friend, I think we both come from the same side here. I support local companies, and I very much appreciate what companies like Pilkguns has done for the shooting community here. The amount of knowledge available on this website and Pilkguns alone is staggering, nevermind USA Shooting. I have learned a ton, both from this forum and from the Pilkguns site. I also support United States companies in all manners of consumables, including accessories.Misny wrote: 10 meter precision air gun shooting isn't nearly as popular in the U.S. as Europe, so importers here aren't going to put their money into a lot of stock that might sit for many months. The simple fact is that I came into the sport at a bad time. I need a professional level air pistol at this point. I know what I need and it is currently unavailable via the United States (I have tried). My options are to (1) wait until the US importers figure out negotiations with a certain Austrian company, which could take months; (2) purchase an alternate pistol; or (3) purchase internationally.
(1) is impractical but would be tolerated if (3) were not available. I simply came into the 10m AP world at a bad time, and I recognize that. I have had nothing but good experiences with both Pilkguns and Champion's Choice. But I firmly believe that competition is healthy and encourages behavior that ultimately supports the shooting scene by discouraging companies from certain actions. I understand and I sympathize with the dilemma US companies face, but that's between them and the foreign compaines, not me. I need what I need, and if they have it, I would gladly buy it from them.
As to (2), that's down to psychology. I have done significant research (approximately 20+ hours), and me and my wife have both come to the conclusion that this air pistol will best fit me and my purposes. Regardless of whether, say, a "SteyrPardimorini Model 10-162m" (not using names because I don't even want to get into that) pistol is in fact superior, according to the sports psychology I'm familiar with, I should be using a gun I believe is best for me. I will be more successful with it.
Finally, I plan to purchase all consumables and other items needed in this sport that are available through a United States company, if possible.
I hope that clarifies my answer a bit and reassures you that I wish to continue to support this country's companies first. But that support has some reasonable limits.
Re: Evo replacing LP10 in US?
Agree with Chia. Pilkguns and Champions Choice both top drawer suppliers. I purchased shooting glasses, pellets, targets etc from both. Reasonable pricing and great support for our sport.
