Look at the selling price for this Izh46. It wasn't so long ago you buy two of them for that money! Notice - it was two bidders with no feedback (or brains?) slugging it out at the end.

I won't be at all surprised to see this thing relisted when the winner figures out at that price he was the loser, and he backs out of the deal.

$600 at Pyramid now. Supply and demand would be my guess, perhaps Russia is being restricted on how many they are allowed to export, or folks are just willing to pay the higher prices. I remember when the pre-M models were $125 at local gun shows in the midwest and everyone just walked on by.

We can’t blame the Russians for making an air pistol that most shooters want.

Whenever an Izzy comes up for sale, you can be sure that someone will snatch it up within a few days.

The rock bottom prices of the 90’s are long gone; nowadays, manufacturing costs have gone up considerably, especially for the precision oriented stuff.

In the US there is an Executive Order banning import of th IZH-46M, among many other things. Until rescinded by Congress, or The President, the IZH-46M can no longer be imported. The full text of the Executive Order can be read, here:

There was a guy from Canada selling brand new Izzys on GB a few months back for $550 opening bid and $595 BIN. Sold everyone he advertised (6+), including the one I bought for $550. Shipping to US was $39 and took a week. Guess the "embargo" didn't apply to Russian goods coming from Canada, or he violated it, don't know. I would do it over again in a minute if I didn't have one. The one that sold on GB for $650 is probably about 7-? yrs old judging from the s/n. A better deal would've been the other one f/s at $550 BIN http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIt ... =550833347. Some people would rather have the goods than the cash, good for them.

Oh, boy! Another totally useless embargo! Iranian pistachio nuts (which really are the best in the world), Russian air pistols, Cuban cigars. Who gets dinged other than American consumers? THANKS, CONGRESS!

The Izh-46M is, quite simply, caught up in the arms sanctions against Russia. There has been talk of ending the economic embargo recently. Perhaps there is a light at the end of the tunnel for air pistol shooters looking to get into the sport inexpensively.

Gwelo's pistol is most likely a pre-ban import.
