(The new??) ANSCHÜTZ Match 54.30

Picked up on this in the shooters lounge. Looks like there was a new rifle
tucked away from most people at the IWA fair in March.
I had been planing on getting a new KK300 hopefully later this year but
with this seemingly new rifle on the horizon perhaps it's worth waiting for it to hit the shelves first.
New/improved features:
- Basis for the new rifle is the well known and reliable ANSCHÜTZ Match 54 action.
- The loading port was moved 30mm rewards and was reduced in size by 18%.
- These changes increases the stiffness of the receiver.
- The closer location of the loading port allows for less movement when in position and an overall improvment in shooter ergonomics.
- To accomodate the closer location of the loading port, the bolt and the firing pin were reduced in length by 30mm.
- The weight of the firing pin was also reduced, thus resulting in velocity increase of the firing pin and a shorter lock-time.
- The overall accuracy has been improved by a newly designed ANSCHÜTZ Match chamber.
- Unlike match actions in the past, the new Match 54.30 features a threaded receiver and barrel connection. This change removes stresses in the chamber area and further increases accuracy.
- The new Match 54.30 can be installed into all available stocks which fit with the ANSCHÜTZ round match actions such as the 1907 or 1913.
- Like other ANSCHÜTZ products, the Match 54.30 features a maintenance - friendly and long lasting overall construction.
- Very competitive pricing.
Does anyone know more about pricing or availability time line?

You did not indicate where you are located.
In the United States, see the Anschutz North America website, News.
http://www.anschutznorthamerica.com/news.html
Julian indicates that these rifles will become available in the US later this year.
Suggest that if you are interested, contact their dealers so that you can be contacted when they become available.
You may want to place your order ASAP.

I am not answering on behalf of Ed but personally
I believe that the Walther is:
- At least as ACCURATE as any Anschutz
- Has a better TRIGGER (for sure)
- It comes with SIGHTS. Anschutz deserve to lose business by deliberately
selling rifles that do not come with sights to screw customers for more money.
- The KK300 with sights costs LESS than the 2013 without sights!
Still, Anschutz make world class products and if this latest evolution of the 1913
action is really an improvement than perhaps I could be convinced. If they supplied
sights it would take less convincing.

Once you try a Warner sight you won't want either anyway.

Pricing - I was told today €2200 for the barrelled action.
One thing I was surprised by was that the chamber is half in the action and half in the barrel like the Bleiker.
It seems that Walther may have something new too - I shall find out more tomorrow.

-Anschutz spare parts availability
-Anschutz custom part availability
-Anschutz accessories availability
-2013 has lots of aftermarket barrels that change within minutes.
-2013 is a 4 bolt action
-Anschutz has more models to choose from
-Anschutz custom shoop
-Anschutz has better sights than a walther.
-Anschutz has standard sight rails, front and rear.

*Spare parts can be purchased thru Champion's Choice and UMAREX USA.
*Custom parts are available for the Walther....that is why they are called custom....
*Anschutz may have more accessories, but they can also be used w/ the Walther
*Walther barrels are glued in and easily changed....and your bedding is not impacted
*The 4 bolt action is no advantage vs a 2 or 3 bolt configuration. Actually a disadvantage when stock is glass bedded and you change barrels.
*True.
*Custom shop - at least in the US - does not work on target rifles - only sporters
*Anschutz sights are additional cost to the rifle. The Centra sights on the Walter work fine for many people.
*True. Easily resolved w/ standard adapters.
At the end of the day, it boils down to personal preference. I personally own both.....

Owning both, there you go!!!
Not all anschutz accessories fit Walther, my annie-spec bipod won't fit on my friends Walther. The bottom lip on the T-track is thicker.

Guess we are going to "heck"! Realized, last night,we have an anshutz rear sight on a KK300 and a "walther" rear sight on a 1907!! The walther shot a 396 and the annie shot a 355.

If you prefer the trigger mechanism of the Walthers, check out the new KK500 that was released today. Aside from the way the bolt locks the KK500 action looks like a copy of the Bleiker/G&E

From the photos that I viewed, it looked like an advancement on the k300 action - new bolt design and the loading port further to the rear. The Bleiker has a ton of moving parts in the action - and the barrel attaches in a two piece configuration that includes o-rings. The kk500 looks like it still has the glue in barrel system - which is stress free and an excellent - and simple - design.
I really do like my Walther trigger over the Anschutz 5018 type...

Dumb action design. What if I need my sights to be over the breech? Now that the breech is back you need to cater for people needing their sights to be over top of it. Basically anyone who buys this rifle has to get a smaller set of sights (not the Anschutz ones) if they want to have some available space to move your sights back and forth or has to buy this:
http://www.centra-visier.de/en/products ... ke-extent/
Bad luck if that puts the sights too high for you.

I had Anschutz all my life, but I started using a LG400 and KK300 and I personally have a preference for Walther. They just feel better for me. I don't know what voodoo makes that true because the Precise models adjust in a zillion ways. These rifles are pretty expensive, but it is nice to see both Walther, FWB, and Anschutz are investing money to make their products better. Maybe I am biased, but it looks like Walther stepped it up into the Grunig world, and Anschutz made a predictable conservative move to something closer to the old KK300. Just to guess (and BS), I bet Anschutz will upgrade the 54.30 in a short while to compete. Or maybe Anschutz is counting on a less flashy and cheaper rifle to satisfy "value" shopper?

As opposed to the Bleiker, Grunig or Walther KK500 which do the exact same thing but include the sight rail as standard or machined into the action?
If you look at this picture of the KK500, it does appear that the sight rail is literally just a bolt-on bridge like the vibrake, but included by Walther rather than aftermarket. It's the same fundamental design issue, but Anschutz are saying "try it without, and if you need space, get a bridge", Walther - rather sensibly - are just making their own.
Yes, certainly, the bridge is going to raise the sight-line, which may not be desirable. But it's not restricted to the Anschutz - it's a design compromise common to every short-bolt action. You pays your money and makes your choice.
