Checking tightness of buttons

Post by Bbryer33 »

Hi everyone I have just a standard ISSF jacket from Champions Choice. I need to check the tightness of the buttons for USA Shooting rules. How do I check the tightness without buying an official button check. Thanks for your response

If you don't have access to a calibrated button check tool, or access to someone who has the plastic "push-n-Test" type of tool it is difficult & interesting.

I usually have folks get it close by using "imagination" or another tool.

Long time ago, in a galaxy far away the test was to be sure that you could button the jacket around you and a 4" pipe segment. So you could go to the h/w store and get a say 2-1/2 to 3 foot length of 4" PVC pipe. ... or roll up a length of cardboard into a 4" diameter roll & set that as a starting point .... and then make sure you have button tools at your next match where they will test.
