NRA ANY SIGHT 3P SMALL BORE

Post by imac »

Hello
We shoot the NRA any sight rimfire 3p matches down here in New Zealand. I have a question regarding sights.
Can someone shoot the prone with a scope on rifle then change to aperture sights for the standing and kneeling matches?
Kindest regards
Ian.

You can change sights mid match. I did exactly as you mentioned myself.

You're okay unless your match program prohibits it. NRA rules do not address changing sights when "any sights" are specified in the program.

Yes, you can change sights. It's pretty common for people to throw the iron sites on for standing.

Thanks for the answers. We have our National Championships this weekend. Will most likely use scope for prone then change to aperture.

Another possible course of action: if you have a variable scope, you might try dialing it down for standing. I move my scope down to 6X, which causes it almost to behave like an iron sight... doesn't dance as much, and you can treat the reticule and the bull as aperture and front sight....
