Material used for Grip Molding?

When looking at videos of ISSF and Olympic pistol finals, you see grips that have molding on them to customize the fit. What is the material used in that molding?

Just go to Home Depot and pick up a package of kneadable epoxy. You just whack off a hunk, knead it 'til uniform, and smear it on. $7-8 for enough for several guns. It's easy to work when hardened, too.

i recently tried ThermoMorph, inspired by a post in here, which disappeared nearly immediately because the writer got offended by some comments saying that it had been discussed a lot of times.

I think that for non-professionals it is even better than sprint. You just heat it up a bit with air dryer and you can easily make corrections.

I use a dry wood filler from the hardware store that you mix with water. The unused part lasts indefinitely, and it's easy to reshape later. After I get it right, I coat it with a mixture of epoxy and sand (paint additive). You can also add in a color, if you like.

Most of the major grip manufacturers / modifiers in Europe will be using either the Sprint wood putty or Morini Grip Paste (which I suspect might just be re-labelled Sprint).

If you peel the Morini label off the Morini Grip Putty tin, you will normally find Sprint on the tin!
Tried to acquire Sprint and the only way would have been to purchase a minimum of 10 tins, so just ordered Morini Grip Putty.

Thanks all for the replies. It is interesting to look at the YouTube videos and study the grips used on air pistols. In many cases it looks like women shooters use very large grips and then heavily fill them in with paste/putty. In just about all cases, the end result of their grip is that the middle knuckles of their shooting hand(fingers 2,3,4) are lined up flat directly under the trigger.

My favorites are PC Lumber or Quick Wood . They are two part epoxy putty that comes in "Tootsie Roll" style logs about 3" long and 3/4" diam. Cut off a piece knead and apply. They are easier to sand and modify than plumbers putty or Bond-O. One or the other is available at most Hardware stores in the US. The working time is at least 5 minutes then it takes a few hours to completely harden.

You need the artificial wood and the hardener

Another product that is beeing used more and more on grips, are a rubber paint call'd plastidip http://www.plastidip.com/

You paint it on the part of your grip that you want more grip on, it makes your grip less slippery. It is rubbber so it feels like rubber :-)

If you paint on to much, you can just peel it off and start over.

The resin used in "Sprint" is polyester resin, which is used in glass fibre boat construction to which a thickener has been added.Typically chalk is used,but even flour will do + the brown pigment.

Yep, I'm with Rover here(and Steve T); I use "Quick Wood"". I bought 2 one oz tubes a year ago; and

I've only used about 1/3 of the first tube. It was enough to modify three pistol grips.
