Most US states do not regulate air pistols, but there are exceptions. I'm not sure if Michigan is one of them. Even then, it's usually just a restriction that you be over 18 or 21 to purchase/own one.

Thank you Gwhite

Thank you for your help Gwhite. I was trying to save a little time if I could. I'll check with the State Police when I get back to Michigan in one more week. Thanks again.

Maybe it is time to repeal laws that serve no good purpose. This looks like a good place to start: http://www.migunowners.org/

According to this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_Michigan

Michigan is one of the stupider states. They consider an air pistol with a rifled bore to be a firearm, and a permit to purchase must be obtained in advance from the police.

Somebody definitely needs to beat some sense into the legislators there. Massachusetts used to have similar provisions, and we managed to fix that. It CAN be done.

Precision Airguns is a business that sells airguns, etc., and is in Bordman, Michigan. Perhaps a note to them will help with your quest:

I bought two air pistols from Michigan (this was quite a while back). He was happy not to mess with the paperwork, even sending them to NY.

That said, I doubt that many here would worry about mailing you an air pistol regardless if your local situation.

Glad I live in Texas.

Michigan is a beautiful state full of outdoorsmen and not as bad as the reputation they have due to a couple of cities and the politics. Liked it when I was there but probably wouldn't have been able to buy 4 pistols in 5 minutes like I was able to yesterday. Only 5 minutes because of the background check that I have no problem with.

When I was younger I almost moved to Texas.

When I was younger I thought about moving to Texas. I sure wish I would have. My children were doing well in school and I was afraid the grades might head south if I moved there. Shoot well mu friends.
