better box for the free pistol..

Post by DanielSwe »

So, I've slowly grown less and less fond of the big box the Morini cm84e comes in and I'm searching for other options.
Something that is not so big that I can make into a cozy habitat for my dear pistol.
Worst case I'll make one out of aluminum at work, but that'll be a pain in the a** (thats ass, but if you are sensitive, just read the stars..).
I'd rather have a hard plastic case, snug fit...ish.

Any suggestions?

And YAY! Free pistol season is here, finally warm (well..) enough to go outdoors with ye old long barreled pistol!

Haven't had time to delve into the site but I bet they have multiple sizes.

Pelican 1510 will fit a large free pistol and space for an Air Pistol and a 25m Pistol.

Can be had for around 150USD shipped. Number of members at my club have them to travel internationally.

The pick and pluck foam is a pretty good option if you want a fast solution but I think the foam you cut with an electric breadknife will last longer.

They are not exactly small or light - but I have no qualms loading a boot (NZ English -> American translation: "trunk") load of gear on top of that case. It also has a handle and wheels to save wrecking yourself lugging it to the firing point.

Thanks for the suggestions!
I'm leaning more and more towards making my own I think. Typing it in the first post made me start drawing up plans in my head.

2mm aluminum case, with attachments for a shoulderstrap would be nice. Just big enough to put the gun in with some foam around it, cut out a few holes for paraphernalia.
Coat it in some nice color, like blue and yellow :)

If I start going abroad I'll hit a Pelican I think, I see alot of shooters toting those..
