2013 rear stock adapter

Our club has started shooting a type of 50yd 22lr benchrest competitions. I'd like an adapter that attached to the bottom rear of the stock so it would ride the sand bags like a BR gun. Any ideas or suggestions out there?

thanks

That should work for the forearm, but I'm not aware of anything that just clamp on to the back of your stock. That may require some creative engineering on your part. Good luck!

Jay your initial post is a little vague, there are a range of different fore end adapters that are available that give a flat front end, which are great for rifles with curved bottoms on the fore end. Although still helping a little, as they are a bit wider, the fore ends of most Anschutz target stocks, from the 18xx series onwards, are flat bottomed and will actually ride a front bag very well. I certainly had no problems at the front end with my 1813.

The butt end was a bit of a problem as they have significant cast off. The latest aluminium stocks are also a very big problem, as there really is no lower butt to support the rifle. I have seen pictures of a plate that fits to the butt carrier and extends downwards. This has a round bar attached that then extends forwards to act as if it were the bottom of the stock. There are usually rules that require the radius of the bottom of the stock to be some minimum. That minimum would dictate the diameter of the rod used. This is somewhat similar to the "Chest Supports" that the ISSF banned last year, but without the offset towards the shooter. Although I have seen pictures I do not know if this was home made or is available commercially.

Take a look at this page - 2nd to last picture.

Also - I just use the rear hook with the end finger extended so that it is essentially a strait horizontal rod. Rides a bag just fine.
