Hi everybody,
I'm new to the forum and shotgunner. I shoot OT and DT after changing over from Osk. I'm really interested in 10m moving target shooting and wondered whether there was any good coaching materials available? Or good places to find information on the internet ?
I realise its a real minority interest especially mover here in the UK but this forum seems like the place to find out more.
Thanks for all your help

Happy Christmas

Hi
its definately a minority discipline in the UK, we used to have shooters who did it and have a 10 mt set up at Norwich but its not been used for many years now. The best contacts are the British Sporting Rifle club based at Bisley www.sportingrifle.org who are probably the only regular shooters of the discipline in the UK.

I will try the bsrc after Xmas.

Hello Dyosk,

There were one or two 10m moving target sets knocking around at one time. As well as the Norwich kit there was one at Elizabeth Way, Cambridge and there may still be one at Aldersley. Leics & Dist had one (unused) for years, but they sold it to Lincs HFT Club about 3 years ago. As Robin said, your best bet is to get in touch with the BSRC. It might also be worth putting a "wanted" ad on the Stirton forum as that might remind someone that they have one in the shed.

Good luck,
Rutty

The Norwich range is still there and the running target setup is stored down the side of one of the ranges (well it was there Friday when the club closed for Christmas). I've been at the club getting on three years and have never seen it used, but I guess it should still work.

When I was an ATC cadet in the late 70's early 80's someone brought a set to us to try out, setting it up on our 4 lane 25 yard range. I was quite fun actually. I guess the hardest thing apart from the targetry is finding one of the twin reticle scopes that the top guys use(d).

We had an enthusiastic group many years ago at Norwich and several got into the GB squad, including one who shot internationaly. It sat unused until I bullied a rebuild of it about 5 years ago but it was a waste of time as no one was interested so its sat unused since, I think its still in working order although I know some pistol shooters played about on it and shot every where but on the target.
I even bought some of the old style scale Running Boar targets (we called them running rat!) which cleaned out the BSRC's stock, they are now considered non PC (ISSF rubbish!) and the targets are boring round aiming marks. The pack is still at the club, the targets are little works of art!
I sold my Walther LGR running Boar rifle to a collector and the range has been unused since.
The scope is now limited to 4 times and the dia is limited so as not to look like a Swatt sniper rifle for PC image! (yep, ISSF again!). The twin posts are very expensive but most of us used 4 X single posts which were quite cheap and perfectly good, judging the lead is the least of your problems! I used a 12 times crosshair quite successfully for a long time until the ISSF spoilt the game. The scope problem was getting the scope paralax free at 10 mt, I had a .1 diopter lens in the front to achieve it. I even tried to get some FT shooters involved but it was a very difficult sport, which was what put them off, and also the beginers as they all want instant success, but it was great fun. Good old days!!
Good shooting

Hi robin,
I'm sure your walther rt would have been a fantastic rifle. Are they the ones with walnut thumb hole stocks ? I always regret missing out on a boxed fwb 300 rt quite a few years ago.
Look like I will have to head down to bisley if I want to find a working 10 m range now. It sounds very much like Olympic skeet or double trap in that its sheer difficulty puts people off initially.

I did think there was one near Wolverhampton at aldersely but I think that has now gone too.

Good shooting

Hi David
The Walther LGR RT was the thumbhole one, great in its day, now more a collectors piece. Most of the modern manufacturers now make one using their current PCP match rifles.
Your best bet is to contact the BSRC they would know where the set ups are, otherwise its Bisley.
Best of Luck
Robin
