I've been told that its OK to dryfire my 2007/2013 without a fired case, dryfire plug etc. Is this true?

I would say that it's OK to do it occasionally but if you are going to do a lot of dry firing then a snap cap (or similar) could save you from a broken firing pin and a dinged breach face - I speak from experience...
Ordinarily the firing pin shouldn't protrude through the bolt face enough to make contact with the breach face (that's my understanding anyway) and the cap stops the back of the pin from hitting the bolt handle at the end of it's travel.
That's where mine finally cracked and allowed the tip to put a nice big dent just above the chamber - which made it impossible to chamber a round.
It's been fixed but I don't know if it's ever going to shoot as well as it did before.
OK, mine isn't a 20 series but I don't think that the design has changed THAT much. I may be wrong though.
For dry firing I've also taken to unwinding the back of the bolt to reduce the force of the firing pin spring. It makes the snap caps last longer as they're not getting such a battering.
