Battery dying on a FWB Model 90 10 Meter Pistol.

I have a FWB Model 90 in really nice condition that I bought for a low price knowing it might have some issues. The battery was dead when I received it but a new one had it shooting fine and I shot better that I ever had once I got used to it. After about 3 weeks the battery was dead and it would not fire. The manual states you should get 5000-10000 shots on a battery so there must be a short somewhere. Has anyone ever had a problem like this and what was the solution. Thanks.
