The team I help coach has a Kite that won't dry fire. I noticed that Larry's Guns had replacement dry fire levers, and I picked one up a few weeks ago. Larry said it wasn't difficult to replace, but to watch out for a small ball. I assumed he meant some sort of spring loaded detent device.
When I got home, I examined the exploded diagram, and I can see the locking screw and the pivot screw for the dry fire lever. For the life of me, I can't see any sign of the ball that Larry had mentioned.
Has anyone been through this? I'd prefer to know what I was getting myself in for before I tackle a project like this.
Someone mentioned in an old post that the Kite dry fire mechanism is a bit delicate. The manual says you should only switch it either on or off when the pistol is cocked. I'm wondering if one of the students forgot that detail and broke it trying to move the lever when the pistol wasn't cocked. If anyone can verify that possibility, we'll make doubly sure they are aware of that in the future.
Thanks!
