I have a dedicated 10 point firing range at my school. I use the creedmoor backstops and the district installed lights to enhance visibility of the targets. The walls are in serious need of new paint. My question is, what is the best color to paint the range to maximize vision and reduce glare? It is currently egg shell white. The Creedmoor backstops are a desert sand kind of color.

Our range is off white and that's what I'd suggest personally. Reflects the light pretty well so it looks nice and bright.

The background area behind the targets must be a non-reflecting, light even neutral color.

I go with alhenius. The color pink is very soothing. Here Sheriff Joe Arpiao has had all the prisoners underwear dyed pink. In some places, jail cells are painted that color.

To soothe some of the fiery temperaments displayed on this forum...pink is the way to go!

Why not the same color as the creedmoor fabric?

I recently re-painted the floor in our range colored to match the paper of the targets ... thought it might relieve some eye strain ... shooters seem to like it. I'm planning on re-doing the walls the same color this summer.

We took a target to LOWES and they matched the color perfectly.

Used Exterior as this was for the floor and I wanted some durability & ability to mop frquently.

I've seen cream, white, very pale green used. A pale pink would be nice I guess, similar to cream, though I've not seen it used personally. The most important thing is that it's nice and matt, not silk or gloss so you get nice even light with no sparkle.

For the wall behind the targets that's true, not so sure it matters as much for side walls. I'm trying to recall, but I think our side walls are gloss and we get no glare. As long as all the lights point towards the targets then you shouldn't get glare.

The side walls of our indoor range are painted white. The baffles and everything else that is painted downrange is painted battleship grey.
