Just watched the full coverage of the 50m final from this past summer games in "Jolly Old." Wow.
Jin Jongoh was incredible (in both the 10m ap AND the 50m) ... but my heart goes out to silver medalist Choi, who had the gold in his sights with anything better than an 8.6 on his final shot!
Maybe more interesting-and topical, is that--given my understanding of the new ISSF rule changes regarding a finals reset--though the gold would still have been Jin's, Choi would not have even medaled. He would have finished 6th. Giuseppe Giordano of Italy would be wearing silver and and Xuan Ving Hoang of Vietnam would have taken home his country's only medal of the games.
But regardless, great shooting and what a wonderful facility to host the match (indoors during pouring rainstorm). I'm planning on being in Rio in 2016 to watch in person, where I hear they will call time with a samba whistle.
