Front Sight - Rear Sight - Optimize Sizes

With front sights and rear sight blades for the Hammerli 208S running $40 to $50 each it is not feasible to own all of them. Is there a rule of thumb - size wise - to match up the best combination for 25M shooting? Say for example, if my 208S came with a 3.2 wide fromt sight, should the rear sight be a 4.0? I know that there are personal preferences but I am talking on average here - neither a tight sight picture nor one that allows a huge amount of space on each side of the front sight.

On Standard pistols with a max. 220mm sight radius a rear sight the same width as the foresight or if you like more gap (ie rapidfire) one size bigger.
-for a 3.2mm foresight use 3.2 or 3.6 mm rear.
-for a 3.6mm foresight use 3.6 or 4.0 mm rear.
My preference for bright sunshine is 3.6/4.0mm.

It really depends on the length of your arm.

I kind of like about 50% of the front blade width as white on each side of the rear notch. You would think the that the less white showing, the finer you could aim. Optical effects, mainly diffraction, defeat this approach.

I also like the front blade to appear as the width of the bull. Remember that when the eye moves focus from the bull to the blade, the bull looks bigger.
