HI guys, the TOZ I am shooting shoots too high for my liking as I would like to set it for near center and right now its a good 6 inches high. How do you do gross sight adjustments?

Lower the rear sight 4 clicks per scoring ring.

If that doesn't work, take the gun back where you got it.

Most shooters like a sub-six hold, though.

It's difficult to shoot center hold using the standard TOZ front and rear sights. How difficult depends on the particular TOZ and sights, and here's where TOZ's infamous non-standardized specs can help you. If you have an assortment of front sights, measure their height from the tip of the blade to where the base contacts the sight carrier, and select the highest one. Then lower your rear sight all the way down (turn the knob counter-clockwise!).

If you still can't shoot center, there may be one more easy fix. The great Don Nygord clued me in on this: when the rear knob is bottomed out, push down on the rear of the sight. You may (depending on your individual TOZ) find that the sight will move down further than where the knob will take it. Take a piece of shim material - Don recommended a piece of Eley lid! - and glue it to the rear sight where the knob extension contacts the sight. Easier to do than to describe. You will have made an effective shift in the travel of the rear sight - it will now go lower but will not go as high as it used to. And be sure that the grip is not impeding downward travel of the rear sight - cut it away if it does.

Shimming the front sight higher is also possible but tricky, due again to the variable machining (hand filing) of the parts. It's very easy to get the front sight tilted that way, so that's a less desirable option.

You can try to put your front sight in upper position - just put a small flat plate under front sight.
