A long shot i know but does anyone have or know the whereabouts of a left handed grip for a britarms 2000.

I have a friend with the long barreled uk version of this pistol and has asked if i can put the feelers out on the forums

Or do they know of any alternatives that might fit with a bit of fettling.

We have already been in touch with Alan Westlake and that has proven to be a dead end as due to other commitments he isnt interested in making anything for these pistols anymore.

IIRC the Britarms was sort of a clone of the FAS 602 or the vice versa. You could try an FAS grip and make some modifications. Also have you tried Morini in Switzerland, they may be able to make a grip from an old form.

In the US Neal Stepp at ISS is a good source for obsolete bits. He is in Texas.

Dick Horton makes grips for that firearm if you're interested in something new and custom.

Do you have a link for Horton, I'm always looking for good sources.

Perhaps i should have updated this sooner. I have managed to source a left handed grip that suits my needs.

My sincerest thank you to the person who helped me i would love to name him but i believe he would like to remain anonymous, he is a true gentleman an all round good guy and the world is a better place for having people like him in it.

I would also like to say a big thank you to Spencer and the Pistol Association of Australia for putting me in touch.

Yes they did, although I'm not sure whether Alan Westlake continued with production of it after he took over the company.

The original 6 .32 "testbeds", circa 1982, were all too heavy under the rules. The subsequent production model, whilst being within the rules, was a pig to shoot (although being marginally more reliable than the .22s of the era).

After 1986 I can only remember one GB National Squad shooter using a Britarm (a .22), despite extremely heavy discounts available to us. I think all of the .32s had gone from the National Squad within months of them arriving.

Not sure if they made them in .32. I shoot pistol as a cross training platform to supplement my rifle training. as such i came to pistol shooting post ban in the uk so dont have much experience of any thing more than AP or single shot free pistols.

The Pistol i have is very much a work in progress as there are lots of problems with it.

First off most annoyingly the magazine would pop up randomly whilst shooting. Fixed this by rebuilding the mag release mech with help from my club chairman who is an ex pistol shooter.

trigger was next it now breaks at a nice crisp 500grams which is how i like it.

I had started building a left handed grip but it wasnt going anywhere quickly that issue is now sorted.

The gun just has two problems left to fix one fairly major which involves removing the barrel setting it back and rechambering as a previous owner has tried to cure a feed problem by attacking the chamber mouth with a file!!! This leaves a bulge in every case which im sure affects accuracy. this will have to wait a while as iv got to figure out how to do this without falling foul of the barrel length laws i have to contend with. It's probably a lot of work for not much return..maybe?

the other minor niggle is the slide does not lock back very easily but i can live with that.

other than the above the pistol feeds and shoots ok with RWS and Lapua ammo (the same stuff i use in my rifle) and suits me well for my cross training purposes.
