Should I Switch Grips on FWB 100?

Hi All,
My FWB has I guess the stock grip that has no wood directly under the rear sight area. A fellow is offering to sell me his used Morini grip. I'm just wondering if I'm really going to notice any improvement over the stock grip. The Morini has a middle finger cut-out, the wood extends all the way under the rear sight, and it is stippled. Since the wood on the stock grip exposes the hole directly under the rear sight, the metal there rips my hand up so I've got pieces of foam like you use to insulate around a door stuck in that area. I only shoot around 480 average, don't compete, just shoot for pleasure. I haven't gotten a price from the guy yet, but on a gun that's only worth $500 or so, do you think it will make that much of, or any, difference, and if yes, what should I pay for the Morini?
Thanks For the Advice,
Richard

Sell the gun for $500 and buy something you like. The Morini grip may not fit.
I'm joking: you could get a lot more than $500 for your gun.

Hi Scrench, It sounds as if your FWB 100 is missing the wood segment that
covers the upper center part of the reciever and fits under the rear sight.
Here is a link to a page that shows the FWB Mod C20(which uses the same grip as my FWB Mod 100),
with the left grip removed:

I doubt that that Morini grip you described will fit you Mod 100; can you
try to fit the Morini grip before you buy it?

The lower half of my grip does look like the C20, but the upper half is completely different and does not extend up under the rear sight/receiver. Mine stops even with the screw hole to adjust the hammer spring. It doesn't look like anything has been cut off or removed from it. The large, ovalish metal hole under the rear sight is exposed and cuts my hand so I've put strips of door insulation foam over the hole.
I actually love my FWB, can't imagine that anything shoots much better. The Morini grip is already on another FWB 100, he sent me pictures of it. He's getting rid of it because he wants to get a large size, the one he wants to sell me is a medium.

You're either missing the small wooden part that goes under the rear sight, or some previous owner cut off the aluminium there. The Morini grip won't solve that problem, if it is the one that will fit your 100. If you're looking at a one-piece Morini that goes all the way under the rear sight, it won't fit your Mod. 100, as it needs the newer 3D grip mount like the newer model P34 etc. have.

I think I finally know what's going on here.
My Mod 100 looks just like the picture of the one here in the TEN P Files, but my grip's palm shelf is thinner and rectangular, not wedge shaped. The TEN P grip also has finger notches, mine doesn't. But they both do not extend up under the rear sight.
I think the Morini grip is not going to fit because I examained the pictures closely, and I believe that the owner actually has a Mod 102 instead of a 100. The metal extending from the botttom of the rear sight to the butt of the gun is different on our guns. You can clearly see the difference if you compare the TEN P file picture of a 100, and then Goggle a picture of a 102. The 100's piece of metal is smooth in a straight line from under the rear sight, and ends in a downward taper at the butt. The 102 has a small step in it, and goes in a straight line to the butt. A small difference, but enough to tell me that the Morini probably won't fit my gun.

Yep, I think I'm on to something here.
The gun with the Morini grip is stamped Mod 100, just like mine, but it's still built a little differently, so there must have been a model change or update within the Mod 100 family. You can clearly see the difference if you just Goggle fwb 100 and then select images. Both iterations show up. Guns like mine don't have grips that extend up under the rear sight, but his does. I'm thinking the version he has, with the stepped straight metal under the rear sight and more obviously, with a silver trigger support instead of black like mine, may have been an upgrade that was eventually renamed the Mod 102. Can anyone confirm or correct this assumption?

I don't think there was a production Mod. 100 with the 3D-grip. It can be put on aftermarket, I think, with the parts from the P34. Of the 100, I know two versions, those where the rear sight base looks like the older C10 models, and those where it looks like the C20/C25/P30. I think you've got the 2nd version, but without the wooden part that belongs under the rear sight.
