I am tossing up whether to look at a different one, I am currently using an Anschutz one which came on my Alu Stock which is about ten years old now. not sure of the number the one with individual "prongs on the back.
What are the thoughts on a Prone only Butt these days, I think I want something which has more curve on the bottom part; the top of this one is good?
Thanks
Martin

You might also consider getting one of these for your current buttplate:

It might get you the extra contact at the bottom that you're after without the expense of a whole new unit.
My feeling is that the stock Anschutz 4765 gets a little sloppy in the shoulder without the hook.
It would be better if the hook could be offset to the side a bit in my estimation - I'm hoping that someone is currently making me a bespoke widget to do just that...

For prone, I'm using (and love) the older Anschutz buttplate. Can't remember the model number but it came with the likes of the 1913 Supermatch. Just so simple and comfortable. Absolutely love it. Have used the Anschutz 4765 and a System Gemini Aktiv Free. The Gemini was great but overly complicated. Felt like you needed to adjust things all the time, hence moving to the simpler item. Never got on with that other Anschutz one though. It was fine, just never felt right. I do have one here I'm going to start using for standing or kneeling during the summer though.

Thanks for all replies it does help to get ideas from people who do not know me and so are relatively unbiased!
Ken thanks for the heads up I will look into that one it sounds interesting, a bit hard for me to "see" how it sits without a picture fitted, any ideas, if you are using one do you get a better fit on the shoulder?

Hi Martin,
assuming that this is your buttplate:
then you would remove the shortest prong, move the others up and attach the long prong at the bottom
- put the hook back on and you should have more curvature.
Alternatively, remove the hook and put the long prong on instead - instant prone buttplate.
I haven't done this myself - yet. I think I've just talked myself into it though... It's not an expensive part.
Regards,
Ken.
