Merits of using the rear iris mirror?

What do these things do that centering the front sight in the rear aperture doesn't?

I use one for setting up the cheekpiece so that my eye is directly behind the sight. You will see if you're eyebrows or lashes are getting in the way too.
It also might show you if your iris/filters are aligned properly on the rearsight - on one of my sights I had to rotate the iris/filters to find the proper alignment.
Ideally the foresight should be centered in the peephole and the reflection of your iris should coincide with the peephole too while your cheek rests on the cheekpiece.

I personally wouldn't get one. I would rather spend the money on gas so I could get to the range to train.
