What is a good spotting scope for spotting targets from 10 metre air pistol to 50 metre free pistol? I would like reasonably good optics for my aging eyes ;)

I bought a secondhanded chinese crap scope for 40 euro's including the tripod. I Canton look through it with glasses on but it works perfect. In trying to say that you don't need a spotting scope wich cost the jackpot. Or mount a rifle scope on a tripod :D

Have a nice day.

Harvey at Airgunsplus out of Prince Albert was selling the Hawke line of compact scopes. With mine I can easily spot .22 holes at 50 metres.

Unfortunately the NG scopes appear to have been out of stock at Pilkington's for quite some time.

Take a look at this one from Burris.

The nice thing is it can focus under 10m. That is important as some scopes cannot focus that close. My very old Bushnell can just barely focus down to 10m, and I have to back the eyepiece out to get it focused at 10m.

Good people to deal with, too.

I've always found Champion's Choice to be a joy to deal with, and they don't ever put their brand name on junk.

Try Potters in Australia: http://www.potfire.com.au/products/ngscope.htm

Since we are talking scopes....
When does a 45 degree scope work better than a straight scope?

I'm sorry, but I have to answer your question with a question. When doesn't it?

Curious, that. Superb scope, too.

They are still available from Nikkonos on eBay http://tinyurl.com/3n9rz8j , or from Gilman: gilman at northgroup dot cn

I have never used a 45 degree scope, only a straight scope, so I have not had the experience of seeing the difference in use. Maybe I have run into limitations of straight scope but worked around that limitation w/o thinking about it.
