Very Happy, Perfect grip modification with Sugru

Post by seamaster »

After three years of adding wood epoxy (walnut Mohawk) and sanding with dramel, and stippling with drill bit, I have a grip that is pretty good.

But pretty good is not perfect, so tinkering goes on.

Someone in this forum recommended Sugru, a silicon putty.

I looked carefully over the stuff. I came to the conclusion it is worth a good try.

It is made in UK, but delivered from reps in the states.

12 small packets of green, blue, orange, black, and white.

It came with a parts mixing chart for making different color

It was $18.

I mixed one part orange and half part of black to match walnut color.

I put it on, molded the putty, and stippled it.

I like it very much because it does not harden in 5 minutes like epoxy wood putty. I can shape, grip, reshape, grip to my complete satisfaction.

Once happy with gripping, I just stipple it. Very easy, very soft to stipple. Then let it sit overnight.

The final product is perfect in color, perfect stipple, and a perfect grip.

I can not be more happy with the final product.

I have used the rest of the Sugru for my glasses temple leg end, for my lacerated shooting ear muff cuff, for my clog shoes. Every hacking was just perfect.

Can not be more happy with this product.
