I had the chance to chronograph several guns yesterday with my buddy's chronograph. I tested my FWB 601 air rifle and it was boringly consistent at 550 fps from first shot to last. OTOH, my Morini 162 EI short started out with a fairly low velocity on the first shot and didn't stabilize until the third shot. It started out with a velocity of 438 fps, then 459 and finally stabilized at 475 fps. Should I be concerned?

I remember Scott Pilkington saying a while back, maybe in the archives, that PCPs will need a few shots before everything "settles in". No need to be concerned.

No that's why if you watch World Cups during sighters they usually release 2,3 or 4 shots with no pellets before they start.

Nice to know that it is just a quirk, common to all PCP air pistols. Do the PCP rifles seem to have the same characteristic?
